DVDOWN UNDER now has on display in our Brisbane showroom the BenQ W20000 1080p DLP Projector, priced at $6999 (inc gst).
Utilising Texas Instrument's native 1920 x 1080 resolution Dark Chip 3 DLP technology, it also offers HQV Reon video processing and a plethoria of tweakable features to deliver a fantastic 1080 projector.
While I was initially sceptical about the use of a dynamic iris to increase overall contrast (which for this model is stated to be a whopping approx 20,000 to 1 when activated), I've found it works very well and definitely brings out more shadow detail than when the Dynamic Black setting is turned off....Contrast with it turned off is still very good so the native contrast of this baby is obviously pretty decent.
For the techno-heads out there, greyscale can be made near flat as a tack to the D65 standard, offering a superb image balance of light and shade. Colour saturation can also be tweaked via the Colour Management System to obtain a colour level as near to Rec. 709 as required.

Samsung has been at the fore-front of Blu-ray, having released the first blu-ray player to the world market. They definitely learnt a thing or two since then, and have now released their 3rd generation Blu-ray player, the Samsung BD-P1400. The Samsung BD-P1400 offers HDMI1.3 connectivity to allow the digital bitstream transmission of Dolby TrueHD AND DTS Master Lossless Audio to the properly equipped receiver for audio decoding. It also features true 1080p/24 playback, and with an ethernet port on back it can be hooked upto the internet for easy downloading of new firmwares as they become available...nice. And the Price?
